Black Lightning series is officially coming to The CW as its first trailer was released today. I know you’re probably expecting to see the flash or someone from the arrowverse but The CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed that it won’t be doing any cross over with the other existing DC series and it isn’t part of the DC shared universe.
According to him, ” We do not aim to do a five-way crossover. Black Lightning, at this time, is not part of the Arrowverse. It is a separate situation.” Another reason he mentioned was that The CW’s Arrowverse show films in Vancouver while Black lightening films in Atlanta.
Black Lightning tells the story of Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams), a retired superhero turned principal and devoted father who must once more pick up the mantle as his daughter’s life gets threatened and gang violence threatens to destroy his city, but little does he know that his daughters are beginning to develop powers of their own. From the trailer, we can see that his main power includes shooting out lightning.
Black lightning series is being created by Greg Berlanti who also created Supergirl series so maybe there’s a chance of a cross over later on seeing as Supergirl also started that way when it was first released.
The show will be making its debut midseason while the other shows in the Arrowverse will air this fall.
