While awaiting Spider-man: Homecoming, we should now take note that Peter Parker isn’t the only webhead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Homecoming, Donald Glover plays the role of Aaron Davis who in the comics is the uncle of Miles Morales — that wasn’t by accident by the way as it is now confirmed that Miles Morales exists within the same MCU as well. For those of you not familiar with this character, Miles Morales later picks up the Spider-man mantle and becomes Spider-man in the comics.
Donald Glover only referred to him as his nephew in Homecoming but Kevin Feige president of Marvel Studios has confirmed that he is referring to Miles Morales. In an interview with screen Crush, when asked if the “nephew” that was talked about was in reference to Miles, he said “Yes”. He also added “In the meantime, I think Miles is a big part of the animated movie that Sony’s making, but where we go… we definitely want you to go ‘[Miles] is there. He’s there somewhere.”
For now, there are no plans of making him the next Spider-man in the MCU seeing as Peter Parker just got to taste the limelight but Tom Holland [Peter Parker] would really be excited if the character Miles were brought under his Character’s care. “That would be something that I would be very up for doing, it’s something that I would really, really hope to happen,” Holland explained. “I think Miles Morales is a great character, I think it would be fantastic to have an actor of color playing a superhero on screen and I just think it’s going to be something very cool and something very exciting for this universe.”
Spider-Man Homecoming hits theaters July 7th.
