The final installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy now has a release date as Disney is making sure we get the movie early in 2019, May 19 on Memorial Day to be precise.
The previous Star Wars movies such as The Force Awakens and the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi all got a December date release so it is a bit surprising to see a May release for Episode XI. It seems Disney might be going back to its roots with a summer release as it did with the previous installments. The movie will be directed by Jurassic Park’s Colin Trevorrow.
It was earlier revealed that Carrie Fisher will not be returning as she died late last year and even the use of CGI to digitally resurrect her character will not be done.
While fans are waiting for Star Wars: Episode XI in 2019, they get to quench a bit of their anticipation with Star Wars: The Last Jedi which is making its debut this year and also a Han Solo Origin movie will be hitting theaters May 25, 2018.
During the Star Wars Celebration, a teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi which is coming this December was released.
